  • Afternoon Tea @ Ritz Carlton

RIP MOCHA DEAR. It was a horrible experience for me, and till now i still get flash back of that very scene every so often and it made me thinks of the what-ifs, and if onlys.. im so terribly sad, but i suppose time will heal the pain.

I kept myself busy over the weekend. Brought brownie to grooming coming out looking like a distorted alien again (more on this later), went shooting with friends and did a terrible job aiming at the plates, had szechuan ma la hotpot for dinner with the paste that Koi brought back upon request, it was soooo good... then decided to turn down all invitations to go out and stayed home to watch TVB series.

Mom n Sis went to HK for holiday without me (argh, im the one who is depress here ok??), dad decided to do his random calls by waking me up at 8am on SUNDAY- the only day i can truly sleep late, just so he can drag me to BAK KUT TEH, and thru out the meal claiming that I was the one craving for BKT since forever, which i must clarify it was not true!

Was suppose to head to sentul koi park with some friends for picnic, but in the end did not make it because the weather was looking gloomy, we decided to call it off, so to avoid dissapoint the kids, i brought them out to the park anyway...

    Busy weekend indeed.

Last weekend was a bit better, at least i have some time for a breather. We head to Ritz Carlton Hotel for afternoon tea.

  • 5 musketeers

Wow, my title could not be more original than that. Im convinced you guys are yearning for my every post since one post probably takes me 2 weeks to write up. lolx jus kidding!

It's monday night, and guess what! Friday would be a holiday! and im already planning for the weekends. haha, I cant help it. Work just does that for you i think.

2 weeks back, the 5 of us initially decided a quiet night chilling, we headed to 7ATE9 for drinks and head to ROOTZ for some bootie action.

    IMG_4362edit

Call it all you want, i know i have aged considerably since forever.

    IMG_4366edit

PK finally got off her busy schedule for some fun

Mr. Simon who refuse to take pics at most times

    IMG_4385edit

And then theres Anthony and Matthew...

    IMG_4367edit

We start off our night with a bottle of BELVEDERE, nothing beats a smooth drink that guarantees no hangover the next day. For that im thankful. Bcuz i only had 4 hours of sleep before proceeding to work the next day, Ahhhh the torture!!!

You know one of the most cowardly pick-ups from guy is to get your girl friends to do the dirty job for ya.

And then there was of course the PCK himself who is a loyal fan to ROOTZ club, he's there every week.

Keep in tune for my second visit to ROOTZ, and NOT a pretty sight i must say.

  • Random Thoughts

Thursday is never a good day for me. OK neither is monday, tuesday, wednesday, and friday.. but who's counting.

It's 9am in the morning. Frankly im not in the mood to work. I did consider doing a sickie and stay at home with my blankie over my head. JUST for one day pls?

I wish there is a balance in work, play, and family. Ever since helping out with my dad, i realise that my work life has been mix with family. The obligations to attend business dinners and cancelled original plans with friends, or careful words around parents otherwise being told off as being childish, just to list a few.

Naturally, i realize im having less and less of ME time. Aside from work, i have to take care of my three doggies which of course its not much of a trouble, but then theres sisters obligations, bringing them out and looking after them trying to strike some balance for them between their schools and plays too.

Sometimes its good to think im single, to be in a relationship i'll have one more thing to worry about and definitely even lesser of ME time.

So yea, as you probably detect by now, Jess is not a very happy person at the mo-

Is it mid life crisis already?

I know i should be grateful (which i am) it's just that theres thousands of things wheeling in my head right now, and with the limited capacity of the brain i have(or not) i feel like a rubberband being stretched and probably will snap one of the days.

SIGH, cheers to unhappy unhappy thoughts

So anyway, KOI is back from Melb, and whenever she's around, we'll definitely up to no good. So Rootz this saturday yea? Kel's is also back but being a "good" friend that i am, i still havent been able to meet up with him... Aside from that i know many other melb peoples are flocking back within this month or next, they should be keeping my weekends pretty damn busy. Most of all, im super excited about my HOKKAIDO trip next month! The thought of the food there is already making my tummy growl~

    More updates soon. xoxo Jess

  • *yawnzie*

Lately ive been super busy at work. If it wasnt for Koi who nags me to update my blog, i'll probably do so in the next century or so.

Last Last Last Last... errr ok i lost count. i think it was few weeks back, we went to Chalet for dinner. I've heard good things about it, so naturally i was anxious to try it out.

I love random nights of sudden impulsive fine dining disorder. Rather than thinking in advance of what to wear, and what to eat, I enjoyed the bliss feeling of throwing clothes on air trying to find a right outfit the very last minute (although i cant say as much for the tidying after), with bare make up, quick brush of hair, i'm set to run down the stairs looking for the perfect heels. All this done in less than half an hour. *applaud*

Chalet is probably one of my most preferred western lately. The place eludes old english elegance with no hints of arrogance so commonly known for the English. Despite the upscaled price, and being on weekdays, the place is still packed with people talking in hush voices. The familar feeling of Melbourne makes me tickles inside.

    IMG_4051edit

I'll definitely visit again to try the rest in the menu

    IMG_4034edit

The appetizer bar with unlimited serving for only approx RM85++ ppax.

    IMG_4030edit

No fine dine goes without wine.

It just happened that we went during the MIGF, so the parents order the elaborated 5 course meal, while me n pk settled for the ala carte menu

    IMG_4035edit

    IMG_4037edit

I love lobster bisque, say it all you want but its the best soup ever

    IMG_4042edit

We were served rose sorbet in the midst of the meal. Kinda odd isnt it? Apparently its to flush down all your appetizers.

    IMG_4053edit

    IMG_4054edit

    IMG_4056edit

For desserts, i wanted to order their infamous dancing dessert but sadly they were not able to make them on the day, so we settled on green tea macarons and some strawberry mousse which taste as bad. GOSH. no more desserts from the tray next time.

    IMG_4025edit

Tired face from work to dinner but a happy smile!

2012 is finally out, i cant wait to watch it

SO.... what's for the weekend ??

  • It's dissapointing how you have great expectations of a restaurant after reading ravishly good reviews from bloggers but the restaurant not quite meet your likings. Hakka Republic is one of those restaurant.

We went there to celebrate mom's bday this year. My first complain of the place is the music they played throughout the night. Often i tried to avoid places that places that plays chinese oldies as its rather disturbing and degrades the mood of the restaurant. But that is my personal opinion.

Aside from the slow service, the food was just ok. Definitely some hit and misses on the menus.
